- Motorcycle keys – Replacing a motorcycle key can be done by reading the ignition code and there are several other methods too. Lost or damaged keys of most popular brands like Yamaha, Suzuki or Triumph can easily be replaced.
- Car keys – If you’re looking to get a new car key made as the existing one is damaged, broken or lost, then an easy solution is using a key blank. This is actually a key that is not cut to actively suit the opening mechanism of any lock. In case you own a vintage car, then a duplicate can be created using the same ignition method that is used for motorbikes.
- Transponder key – These keys are popular as they are quite successful in preventing theft owing to their radio signal and transponder circuit. Previously fixed coded signals were used in cars; however, latest models use rolling codes that is impossible to crack. It’s not easy for every locksmith to replace these keys as they require specialized equipment. Possible solutions include making keys to just open the doors, or using a damaged or broken key to make a new key.
Most modern cars have advanced keys like the one with the transponder chip or a remote controlled version that unlocks all the doors instantly. They do come with their own set of problems as it is difficult and expensive to replace.
